The story of Rieju is a tale of perseverance and adaptation, forged in the heart of Catalonia, Spain. Founded in 1934 by brothers Luis Riera Carré and Jaime Juanola Farrés, the company took the first two letters of their surnames (RI-EJU) to create its name. Initially, their activity focused on manufacturing bicycle accessories, but the Spanish Civil War interrupted their operations. After the conflict, Rieju re-emerged with a new ambition: to build motorcycles.

In 1945, the company launched its first motorised bicycle, the No. 1, which used a 38 cc auxiliary engine. This marked the beginning of a successful foray into the two-wheeled market. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Rieju consolidated its position with iconic models like the "Jaca" and the "Isard," which became popular for their reliability and performance.

The real turning point for Rieju came in the 1970s with the rise of motocross and enduro. The brand specialised in producing off-road motorcycles, earning a strong reputation in the world of racing and among young people. Their "Marathon" and "RS-1" models became icons of a generation, combining the robustness needed for off-road riding with an attractive and sporty design.

In the following years, Rieju continued to grow, expanding its product range to include scooters and road mopeds, but always maintaining its focus on innovation and quality. In the 21st century, the brand has successfully adapted to new market challenges, including the transition towards sustainable mobility. Today, Rieju remains a benchmark in the manufacturing of small and medium displacement motorcycles, with a strong presence in the 50 cc and 125 cc segments and a distribution network that spans numerous countries.

With a history that spans more than eighty years, Rieju has demonstrated its ability to evolve while maintaining the essence of a brand born from a passion for engineering and the desire to offer high-performance, quality motorcycles.
